Little Raith Wind Farm
The first commercial wind farm to be consented in Fife, located approximately 1.3 km east of Cowdenbeath and 1.3 km south of Lochgelly. It began production in November 2012.

The wind farm
Little Raith comprises nine GE 2.75 MW turbines with a hub height of 75 m, each with three rotor blades 100 m in diameter — a full height of 125 m to blade tip.
The 24.75 MW wind farm produces enough electricity to power 14,500 homes each year, the equivalent of powering all homes in Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans and Ballingry for a year.
The wind farm was a significant step towards reducing Fife's carbon emissions by 25%.
In October 2019, The Renewables Infrastructure Group acquired Little Raith from Kennedy Renewables.

Community and education
We committed £49,500 a year to the 4 Winds Community Development Trust — a package worth up to £1.23 million over the lifetime of the wind farm. The trust was established with our assistance and is made up of representatives from Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath, Auchtertool and Lumphinnans, and the money was used as the community saw fit.
We sponsored the wind turbine technician programme at Fife College, which had been training young people for the industry before Fife had a commercial wind farm of its own. Alongside funding we provided IT equipment for students, ran site visits, and opened up access inside operating turbines that had never been available to them — up to two weeks working alongside fully qualified, time-served technicians.
A private investor and developer
Kennedy Renewables is both a private investor and a developer in the renewable energy sector, with an ethos of building, owning and operating renewable energy assets. Little Raith, completed in Fife in 2012, was the first of them.
